
Multiple sclerosis (MS) affects about 400,000 people in the United States, and about 2.5 million worldwide. There are approximately 200 new cases diagnosed each week in the United States, says the MS Discovery Forum. Rates of MS are higher for those who live further from the equator. While anyone can develop MS, it generally targets those between the age of 45-64 and seems to be more common in women than men.
