Traditional Home Elevators
Traditional home elevators operate on a hydraulic, or geared counterweight drive system and can travel up to 50 feet. Each lift system requires hoistway construction for installation.
“Through the Floor” Elevators
“Through the floor” models are two-stop elevators that use a self-contained hydraulic system. This type of home elevator travels on a rail with no need for a hoistway, making it a perfect choice for an existing home. Each of these models is also equipped with a number of safety features.
Home Elevator Style & Design Options
There are a number of style options available for you to design a home elevator that will fit in with the décor of your home. For all of the traditional elevator models we offer (excluding the “through the floor” models), you will be able to select the cab design, cab size, cab color, control panel finish style, handrail style and gate style. Standard cab size is 36" x 54", although we do offer custom size elevator cabs at no additional charge, assuming it meets code size requirements of 15 sq. ft.
The door that comes with a traditional home elevator is a swing style door, which can be matched with the style of the other doors in your home. There is also an option to add automatic sliding doors on some of the elevator models we sell. Learn more about elevator design options ›
How Much Does an Elevator Cost?
The average price of a home elevator ranges between $28,000-$35,000 (this does not include the cost of construction or home renovations). The cost of the elevator will depend on a number of factors such as model, brand, type of elevator, design and much more. Learn more about the factors that affect elevator price ›
Note: In an existing home the construction portion of the project is usually as much or more than the home elevator itself. For new construction, the construction costs are much less because plans can be made to modify the space needed for a home elevator.
