Area Agencies on Aging (AAA) - Ohio

The Ohio Department of Aging responds to the needs of older adults across the state by providing education, information, and referral services that can assist with their aging needs. Ohio's AAAs work with both public and private sectors to help with home and community-based long-term care. Your AAA will help you gain access to the many available services in your area:

The Center for Disability Empowerment

The Center for Disability Empowerment (CDE) is a community based, non-residential center that is driven by the choice and direction of people with disabilities. It serves individuals of all ages, with any type of disability, who live in Franklin, Delaware, Union, and Licking, Ohio counties. A majority of the staff at CDE are people living with disabilities that provide support and resources to help local consumers meet their individual goals for living alongside those who do not have disabilities.

The Healthy Homes Network provides a large list of resources to help people obtain safe and healthy housing in Ohio

Franklin Country Home Repair Program

The Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC) receives funding (grants) from multiple agencies to provide programs that help improve the functionality of homes so that Ohio residents can live in a safe and comfortable environment.

  • Eligibility Info: Eligibility is based on total household income, ownership of the home, & area of residency. The types of repairs eligible under this program are furnace/heating systems, leaking or failing roofs, faulty plumbing or electrical systems, structural issues, handicap accessibility modifications, upgrading sewage disposal and private water systems and other health- and safety-related issues

Minor Home Repair Program

The Franklin County Office on Aging Repair team helps to ensure that the homes of their clients are safe and secure. 

  • Eligibility Info: For residents of Franklin County, 60 years and older, with a demonstrated unmet need for service. The types of repairs eligible under this program Minor plumbing, electrical, gas and furnace repairs; smoke alarms; handrails and grab bars in the bathroom; concrete repair to main access walks and steps; wheelchair and walker ramps; broken window glass. repairs that are purely cosmetic in nature will not
    be considered.

Safe at Home Program

  • Eligibility Info: Must meet income guidelines to be eligible; over 60 years of age or disabled; owner-occupied house
    for three or more years; meet income guidelines; no rentals, doubles; single family structure in sound condition. The type of repairs eligible under this program are home modifications and emergency repairs.

Ohio Housing Trust Fund

The Ohio Housing Trust Fund is a state funded resource that assists low-income families in Ohio by providing affordable housing opportunities and improving housing conditions. It targets to help those who are in most need, which are low-income working Ohioans. The Fund supports a wide range of activities, such as handicapped accessibility modifications and emergency home repair.
